In the LRC, the Year 6 classes have been encouraged to walk in the shoes of refugees by viewing and discussing these videos, reading and reflecting on this poignant poem “Not Just a Refugee” by Bri Mar and sharing these insightful picture books – “The Little Refugee” by Anh Do and “Home and Away” by John Marsden.
The students chose various ways to respond including poems, letters, filmstrip reflections and diaries. You can see some of their work here…
What fabulous responses Miss Y … you can tell that the year 6s gained a much deeper understanding of what it means to be a refugee.
