Jacqueline Harvey is coming to visit us!

We are so incredibly lucky to have author, Jacqueline Harvey visiting us on Friday, March 23rd on her book tour for “Alice-Miranda in New York”

Alice-Miranda in New York is the fifth book in this very popular series.

At just 7 and 1/4,  Alice -Miranda is wise beyond her years.  Her positive outlook on life is contagious.  She is thoughtful, clever and determined when she needs to be.  Alice-Miranda has a wonderful way of knowing how to help people and is one of the nicest friends you could have!

Charlie and Lola

The Charlie and Lola books written and illustrated by Lauren Child are some of the most borrowed books in our LRC. Charlie and Lola also have their own TV show…

My favourite Charlie and Lola story is

Charlie and Lola

I love reading this story to the new Preps when they are learning about borrowing at our LRC.  I have lots of fun reading Lola’s parts! I’m glad that none of the Preps  so far have been like Lola if someone else borrowed the book they wanted at the LRC…thank goodness!

Which is your favourite Charlie and Lola book?  Why?

Have some fun on the CBeebies website with Charlie and Lola playing games, listening to stories and making things…

Pottermore

On June 23rd, J.K. Rowling announced her new website called Pottermore that will open to the public in October.

“Pottermore will be the place where fans of any age can share, participate in, and rediscover the stories. It will also be the exclusive place to purchase digital audiobooks and, for the first time, e-books of the Harry Potter series.”  J.K. Rowling

(I love the way objects are created out of the pages of the books!!)

How to draw Old Tom

The Grade Ones have been enjoying reading the Old Tom books written and illustrated by Leigh Hobbs. We have read Old Tom, Old Tom’s Holiday, Old Tom – Man of Mystery and Old Tom’s Big Book of Beauty.

We watched this video of How to draw Old Tom with Leigh Hobbs. We watched the video again and Miss Yeomans paused it so we could draw Old Tom step by step by following Leigh’s instructions.

You can see our fantastic drawings of Old Tom in the slideshows…

(Go to the menu and select “full screen if you want the drawings to be bigger!)
