Thank you Mrs Stewart…

This week we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Stewart who has been our inspirational and one of a kind principal for 14 years at St Martin’s. Over the years she has inspired, challenged and supported students and teachers alike to become the best we can be. Mrs Stewart knows every one of our 530 students by name and her smile and positivity have been on display every single day. Mrs Stewart never asks anyone to do anything she wouldn’t do herself and she embodies our school motto “Non Recuso Loborem – I do not refuse the task.”

Mrs Stewart has been a champion for our library and we will miss her greatly. She has dressed up for every Book Week; supported all of our library initiatives and events; left regular comments on our LRC Blog; borrowed books from our library for her holiday reading; replaced our old ‘temporary library’ with a 21st century library and was the first one there to pull up her sleeves and get to work when our brand new library was flooded on Christmas Day, 2011.

It is thanks to Mrs Stewart and her passion for books, reading and learning, that our school has a teacher librarian and a vibrant contemporary library. Thank you Mrs Stewart for for giving our school such a priceless gift…

  4. Dear Miss Y,

Mrs Stewart sounds like an amazing person and to remember every students name, wow this proves to me just how amazing she is.

I can tell by reading your post that Mrs Stewart has really left her mark on many students and that is a gift. Even though I have never met her, mind you I wish I did, I would like to wish Mrs Stewart a wonderful happy life as she begins the next chapter in her life.

I loved when you did assemblies.

  6. Thank you Miss Y, not only for your beautiful blog post but especially for the way you make St Martin’s LRC the BEST place to be. You know every child by their interest in books and you always gave me a pile of books to read each holidays. I enjoyed reading all the books you chose for me and I was able to recommend them to the students.
You are a wonderful teacher librarian. St Martin’s is very lucky to have you. I’m sure the students, teachers and parents will continue to say WOW when they enter the LRC.
Special thank you to those who left kind messages on your blog post.
It was a great privilege being principal of St Martin’s
