The LRC blog is taking a Gap Year

Miss Y and the LRC Blog will be taking a Gap Year for 2014…

The LRC Blog will still be here for you to read, use and enjoy.  You can search for some of your favourite blog posts by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right corner and typing in keywords (eg Wimpy Kid) or search the Archives on the righthand side.  You can check when your favourite authors are releasing new books at our Author Websites page. Don’t forget to use our LRC Website where you will find Search Engines (other than Google) to use and you will also find our Copyright & Creative Commons page with links to photos and music you can use by crediting the creators.

I know you will look after our wonderful LRC and help Mrs P next year.  Keep borrowing and enjoying lots of great books and have a fabulous year of reading and learning in 2014!

It’s always “Book o’ clock” at our LRC.  Happy reading…

  3. Hi Mrs H

Yes, after 28 years of teaching (12 of them in our LRC) I’m taking Leave for 12 months to recharge my battery!

Thank you for being such a wonderful supporter of our LRC Blog and leaving so many comments. I will keep an eye on your library blog next year .

Merry Christmas and have a fabulous 2014

    Miss Y 🙂

  4. Hi Miss Y,

You certainly do deserve a break and some time to recharge your battery. SMOT will be quiet without you and your little bits of inspiration that you share with us. We look forward to welcoming you back to us in 2015. Good luck and enjoy whatever unfolds for you next year.

    Regards,
    Mrs Van.

  5. Thank you Mrs Van,

I am looking forward to my break and hoping it will be a wonderful year of new experiences and challenges (and time to read lots of books!)

I am subscribed to your 2VL blog and look forward to seeing the great learning your class will be doing next year.

You may still get little bits of inspiration from me from time to time…

    Have a fabulous 2014

    Miss Y 😀

  6. We will all miss you Miss Y! Enjoy your gap year and remember, if you ever decide to start a book club, remember me!

  7. You will be the first one on the list if I start a book group Ms Will!

I started the first book from my holiday reading pile today…

    Miss Y 🙂

  8. Hi Miss Y,

Have a wonderful break, and thankyou for sharing your passion with books with my son James – he leaves St Martins well equipped for the next step thanks in no small part to you. I also will miss our post weekend chats about the mighty Kangaroos 😉 I hope you don’t miss them playing off in a Grand Final (maybe give it 2 years hee hee). All the best Jane Ryan

  9. Congratulations Miss Y! I hope you have an amazing year! Do you have lots planned? We don’t have this system in the US and it seems like a great way to refresh, and learn.
    Mrs. Hembree

  10. Thank you Jane!

It has been a pleasure to teach James and play a part in his reading journey. James is so lucky to have parents who have encouraged his love of reading.

I’ll miss our chats too and really feel that the planets are starting to align for our mighty Kangaroos. Let’s hope it’s not too long before we win that elusive Grand Final!

    Go Roos!

    Miss Y

  11. Thank you Mrs Hembree

It has been a big decision to take this leave, but it will give me an opportunity to recharge my battery.

I hope to do some travel later in the year, attend some conferences, perhaps do some study, read lots of books and see what the year has in store for me…

    Miss Y 🙂

  12. Thank you Miss Y for the magnificent video. I had the biggest glow while watching it. The power of reading and the power of the LRC.

Thanks for creating the best LRC and for leaving us prepared for the year ahead.

Take time to read what and when you like. Take time to walk and dream, take time to wonder and explore and take time to apppreciate the goodness in your life.

I have a feeling the Kangas will be up there in 2014.

    Mrs S

  13. Thank you for allowing me this gift of time Mrs S. I will be doing my best to make the most of it…

Our LRC will always be the place to be!

    Miss Y 🙂

  14. Dear Miss Y,
Thank you for being the best library teacher in the world! I hope you have a good time on your gap year and read lots of books.
I might even see you at the other end of the street!
    From Hannah 😀

  15. Thank you Hannah

I love being a teacher librarian! I have also loved teaching you, Michael and Abbey in the LRC and sharing your family’s love of reading.

I’m sure I will read lots of books and have started reading my Christmas pile already! I will miss being able to read all the new books at the LRC and will have to reserve and wait for them at Watsonia library (or stand and read them in the bookshop!)

I thought you would like to know that “Meet Pearlie” by Gabrielle Wang (the next book in the Our Australian Girl series) will be out on January 29th.

I’m sure I will see you around Hannah…maybe even at the end of our street!

Happy reading and have a fabulous year in Grade 6!

    Miss Y 😀

  16. Dear Miss Y,

You will be missed but in saying this I hope you have a wonderful time. I get the feeling that this is the time for you to explore and re charge.

I would like to wish you all the very best for the up and coming new year. Hopefully we will be able to meet.

Like Mrs Hembree you have opened up the door on the joy of reading again and I thank you.

Now take care and it’s your turn to shine!

    From a fan,
    AA 🙂

  17. Dear AA

Thank you for your kind words and good wishes.

Thank you for being a wonderful supporter of our LRC Blog. I’m glad that Mrs Hembree and I have ignited your love of reading again.

I’m definitely coming to meet you and BB in 2014!

    Miss Y 🙂

  18. Hi Miss Y,
My friends and I really miss you. I have been reading a lot of good books lately. Right now I am reading The Hunger Games Catching Fire, Chinese Cinderella and the Golden Door. They are all really good but I am enjoying the Hunger Games the most.

I’ll see you next year Miss Y,
    From Viduni! 😀 😀 😀 ;D

  19. Hi Viduni

It’s lovely to hear from you! I miss all of your smiling faces…

I’m glad to hear that some things haven’t changed and you are still reading as much as ever! I read “The Hunger Games’ trilogy last year – it definitely keeps you interested an on the edge of your seat. I have also read the “Divergent” trilogy which is quite similar and has also has a strong female heroine.

Well done for participating in the PRC again this year! I saw your comment about logging on to the PRC website. If you see Mrs Philp in the LRC she will be able to help you and I’ll send her an email as well. It’s a good idea to keep a written record of your books as well in case you can’t log in for a while or something happens on the PRC website.

Enjoy your holidays Viduni – we might bump into each other at the library or at a book shop!

    Happy reading…

    Miss Y 😀

    See you next time!
    From Hannah

  21. Hi Hannah,

    Lovely to hear from you!

I’m definitely missing reading the new books this year. I will have to track down Meet Pearlie and Meet Daisy at the local library or speed read them in the bookshop!

Wow – your house is undergoing a transformation! It will be very exciting when it is finished. Do you know when you will be able to move back in?

I hope you’ve had a relaxing holiday and you have a fabulous Term 2.

    Happy reading!

    Miss Y

  22. Hi Miss Y!

Tomorrow we get to dress up as a character from a book. I’m going as Piper Mclean from The Heroes of Olympus series. I’ve read all of them so far except the last book that hasn’t come out yet. Mind you it is taking ages. Anyway, I hope you read some good books.

    From Viduni

  23. Hi Viduni

It’s great to hear from you!

Congratulations on your huge effort reading the Heroes of Olympus series. It doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as you’re enjoying the books!

I’m doing lots of reading too and last night I went to the Melbourne Writer’s Festival to see one of my heroes – Commander Chris Hadfield, the Canadian astronaut we watched up on the International Space Station last year.

I’m sure you will look fabulous as Piper. Have a great day dressing up and celebrating Book Week. I am going to miss being there with everyone, but will definitely be there in spirit…

    Happy reading!

    Miss Y 🙂
